| In 1996 Herb Jarrett was experiencing performance problems with his new power boat. After several unsatisfactory and costly repairs the true cause was identified
as a propeller problem. A new prop shop had just opened using a computer based system called Prop Scan that was developed in Australia. They evaluated his propellers
and performance tuned them. When Herb did a sea trial the boat had never run as smooth or as fast. When he went to the prop shop to personally thank Mark he met the
inventor of Prop Scan. |
| After several weeks researching the propeller industry Herb went to Australia where he attended an intensive two week training course, followed by two weeks of on
the job training at Performance Propellers, Inc.Upon returning to the U.S. he moved to his native state and founded Treasure Coast Propellers in Stuart, Florida. With
the assistance and support of Tom Chamberlain, Richard Garlington, John Vance, Mark Willis and Mike Rybovich the company’s primary focus evolved toward custom sport
fishing yachts. Over the past few years Treasure Coast propellers has been involved in the design of custom propellers on some of the worlds finest sport fishing yachts.
Our customer list reads like the “who’s who” of the fishing community. |

| THE NEW TREND OF MAXIMIZING PERFORMANCE WITH CUSTOM PROPELLERS |
|
The trend in sport fishing boats has been toward lighter, faster and larger vessels. Each year the engines manufacturers offer higher horse power packages and new stronger, lighter weight
materials come into the market which allow yacht builders to produce faster vessels. This trend has created an enormous demand for high tech. efficient propellers. We design custom propellers
for an individual boat based upon the horse power, gear reduction, hull configuration and weight. Rarely are two boats exactly the same because equipment options and their placement within the
vessel may differ.

What are the advantages of custom propellers?
-
Reduction in noise / vibration
- Improved fuel economy
- Increase speed
|
How are they manufactured?
The design blade geometry surfaces are reproduced accurately by NC machining, dynamically balanced and then scanned to certify Class S tolerances. |
How are they designed?
The specifications for the boat are entered into several proven hydrodynamic analysis programs for high performance low cavitation propellers and the results
analyzed by experienced propeller experts. |
| At Treasure Coast Propellers we utilize two companies for custom propellers. Veem Engineering is located in Australia has been a leader in
the development of custom propellers and has a significant market share of the U.S. market. |
| Platzer Marine Propulsion, Inc. s a propeller designer in the Miami area who has his propellers manufactured at the Hung Shen foundry in China.
Greg Platzer is a well respected propulsion engineer with a reputation for designing props that are extremely quiet and smooth. |

The newest innovation in the propeller industry is the development of the “INTERCEPTOR” prop design which allows the adjustment of pitch and engine rpm by
simply changing a special wedge-shaped plastic strip that locks into a machined groove in the trailing edge of the prop. Interceptor props are fully NC machined and extremely accurate
propellers. This innovation allows us to adjust the pitch without modifying the original design of the propeller, thus eliminating metal fatigue which shortens the life of the propeller.

| We recommend the PropSmith tm propeller installation and removal tool, which applies even pressure to the hub directly up the shaft taper without touching
the blades. A demonstration of the propsmith can be seen at www.tcpropscan.com/propsmith
